Giving Tuesday Garden Party

New Zealand has adopted a number of traditions from America lately. Some like Halloween and Black Friday we could do without, but Giving Tuesday is one we at the Aoraki Foundation love. Giving Tuesday is a day to celebrate generosity, this may be giving your time, your talent, or your treasure. Since 2022 we have celebrated Giving Tuesday with our donor and partners. This year we were fortunate to hold our event at the lovely home of former Aoraki Foundation Chairperson Sid McAuley.

It was a beautiful afternoon in a stunning setting. The weather played its part with the hottest day of summer so far. Luckily there was plenty of shade in the leafy grounds. A big thank you to Sid & Veronica for opening their garden to us for this special day. Sid even had his newly restored Millers Transport truck on display. It was great to see our donors, partners, and trustees mixing together and sharing stories. They heard from Community Foundations of Aotearoa NZ Chief Executive Arron Perriam, about the growing Community Foundation movement. Arron also endorsed the work going on in South Canterbury that has made us one of the fastest growing Community Foundation’s in the country.

Aoraki Foundation Ambassador Ashley Shewan provided some information about the historic bluestone water race that is intertwined throughout Clarmeont and Fairview.

We would like to thank all of those who supplied equipment or services for free - Barrett Joinery Ltd The Speight's Ale House, Claire Barlow, and Soundscape Acoustic. We would also like to recognise all those that helped on the day including our wonderful Trustees Dale Walden, Jo Goodhew, Georgina Hamilton, John Gregan, Jenny Carter-Bolitho and volunteers Ginny Bolderston, Tim Black, and Richard Brown.
