Donation Station

We are delighted to officially launch the Aoraki Foundation “Donation Station”. This is a portable donation platform that local charities can use for fundraising. The station can be set up at three different configurations to suit the individual fundraising needs of each charity. How much do we charge? Well, that is the great part, it’s free! Through the assistance of the AD Hally Estate and Vetta Group, local charities can use this at no cost.

If your charity would like to use the donation station for a fundraising event head to the Donation Station page on our website or read our user guide.

How this was made possible

The idea for the donation station came from a Community Foundations New Zealand meeting in Christchurch last year where we saw a tap-and-go donation platform. We loved how simple it was and thought we could use this for fundraising at out events. Unfortunately due to changes in New Zealand Eftpos environment this solution was no longer supported. Not to be deterred we spoke to our friends at Vetta Group and they came up with a great idea of combining an iPad with an Eftpos terminal. The more we looked into this the more we realised this could benefit other charities not just ourselves.

In order to fund the Donation Station we applied to the A D Hally Trust which is administered by Perpetual Guardian and supported by Timaru District Council. They loved the idea, particularly the wider community benefit, so provided a grant to trial it for a year.

Our next challenge was putting it all together. Enter James Forest from Bleeker and Weith 2018 Ltd. Their team went about designing and manufacturing a mount that would allow the two pieces of technology to sit side by side. What did they charge for this? That’s right, nothing!

We would like to thank all of these wonderful companies and organisations for supporting this project. We are sure it will have positive impact in South Canterbury’s charitable fundraising.
