Aoraki Women's Fund Impact Event 2024

The Aoraki Women’s Fund 2024 Impact Event was held on Thursday 19th Sept at Sopheze on the Bay. This event was a celebration of the amazing mahi and generosity that exists in our community. On behalf of the committee, we would like to thank all who attended and donated to the event, you all played a part in making the night successful and we are very grateful for your support.  Many charities in South Canterbury are doing it tough so your contributions really make an impact in our community.

Recipients from 2023, Pam Allan (Pinc & Steel) and Julie (Family Works) spoke about the impact the funds from last year's event have made in their organisations.

Thanks to the wonderful generosity of the women in the room the Aoraki Women's Fund was able to distribute $7,500 to three worthy charities in South Canterbury for 2024. Those who attended on the night voted to decide how this money would be split between the charities, and as you can see below, this was very close as all of the causes are so deserving.

The final split of the donations after voting was:

  • Cancer Society Wigs for Women - $2,412

  • Refugee Settlement Services Driving Lessons - $2,853

  • Family Works Women's Self-Care Group - $2,235

These charities are making a significant difference in the lives of women in South Canterbury. It is a constant struggle for charities to get funding so events and donations like this make a real and meaningful impact.

Finally, this night could not have gone ahead without the financial support of three generous women, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank Stacey Scott, Michelle Pye, and Debbie Brown.

We look forward to growing this event next year to make a bigger impact for women in our community. To find out more about the Aoraki Womens Fund or to make a donation click here.
